Can you get viruses from windows live messenger?

Well I was talking to my friend (lets call her carmen not her real name) on windows live messenger and one of my other friends came online so I asked carmen if the other friend could join she replied with a why so I took that as a yes but then when the other friend joined carmen sent me a message saying you horrible girl I said no I cant have group conversations because it gives my computer viruses. The other friend went away from the chat and I said to carmen I am sooo sorry I really thought you said yes she replied now my computers got a virus thanks to you and then she logged off I didn’t know you could get viruses from windows live messenger and now I think she hates me and I’ve gotta go to school tomorrow and face her what shall I do???

you cant get a virus off group conversations unless you open a file that contains it ( eg > hey look at this photo) I’ve gotten that message a lot

The only ways top get a virus off of Windows Live Messenger is if you either open random files people send to you or if you click on random links, so no. Having group conversations will not give ANYONE a virus.

It dependedsss I have windows live messanger and I always add people into the convasation and me or my friends neaver get virus off itt . It may be because Carmens computer dosent have a antivirus detecter in over words if you have one your computer wont get a virus on it . Or carmen may bee winding you upp or maybe not. All you got to do is go in to school tomrrow and say im sooo sorry I didnt mean to add people in the convastion I didnt know it would cause a virus on your computer.I now know for next time not to add someone without cheeking they wont get a virus. Im suree she dosent hate you shes probally just a bit annoyed it will probally all be sorted out tommroww .
