Napster was the first of the “Peer 2 Peer” programs that people used to start downloading music for free. Of course, doing such is highly illegal, and since that was all Napster was really designed for, the Music Industry came down on it like a ton of bricks, prosecuted the programmers and some of the downloaders. They also tried doing a similar thing with KaZaa.

Limewire is a Peer 2 Peer downloading tool, but is designed for all manner of files. Part of the Terms of Service that you agree to while installing Limewire is that you do not use the program for illegal purposes - such as downloading music or movies. If you are caught doing such, you can get in big trouble.

Well I was caught once but its rare because I was downloading movies and they send this letter 2 my house and said that I had 2 pay 2500.00 for downloading movies. Well I said that I didn’t know wat they were charging me 4 because I didn’t know wat it is. So they droped the charges. Lol. Ya.

its very unlikely. but for safe precautions, when your in your limewire library, right click the song title, and click on stop sharing this file. that will make it impossible for you to be charged, do that for all the songs you download, and you wont be caught. simple as pie :]

I remember hearing about people getting caught with Napster when it first came out.
