Can you change from labret to a ring in lip piercings?

I’ve had the right side of my lip pierced with a labret for a year now. I wanted to get a ring but I needed to hide the piercing for school so I got labrets (I just screw the ball off the bar). For summer I wanted to change to a ring but the piercer said I couldn’t since it was pierced with a labret so the hole is straight and a ring is curved. Also a labret is further from the lip then a ring is.

Is this true? Am I doomed to never have a ring?

Labret’s are the center of your lip piercing… You have a stud in your lip. Just because you got it pierced with a stud does NOT mean you cant put a ring in. I have my right side of my lip pierced with a stud and not have a ring. It was totally fine. Just get a ring, and put it in, and if for some reason it doesnt work just put your stud back in.

youll probably be able to put a ring in after all I had my lips pierced with labrets and later changed them to rings and they were fine if you cant and it hurts to put it in, then dont force it but straight holes can usually also fit a curved ring in them so it should go in with no problem

Of course you can put a ring through your lip. Most places will pierce your lip with a labret because its easier. Some will offer the choice of piercing with a ring but thats rare.

As long as you have the ring ready to put in, just unscrew the labret, then feed the ring through the hole (obviously with the ball taken out). Then bring the gap in the ring to the front and pop the ball back in.

It takes a bit of practise to get used to putting the ball in when you’re wearing the ring but you get used to doing it quickly. I had my lip pierced then changed it to a ring 4 days later.

But if you do struggle to get the ball in, either find someone you trust 100% to help you or put the labret back through.
