Can anybody tell me what a cornet is?

Okay so like I’m in marching band. Today we got our music for marching season. Like the song is called FLASHDANCE. And I play clarinet. They gave me the cornet piece. I dont know what a cornet is. Can anybody tell me what a cornet is?

yea a cornet is really a baby trumpet and it is usual 4 a director to give clarinets and trumpets the same music…I should know…I play trumpet and I always get clarinet music!!
