Can my friend take custody/guardianship?

Okay, so, say if I had been moving in fostercare to fostercare to parents all my life. I recently got back with my parents.

They said they’d sign me over if I found some one who would take me. So, they already agreed, that isnt a problem. If my friend would let me live with him(take custody/guardianship/we), and he’s 18, and I’m a minor female. No sexual/relationship relations, just friends. Could he legally do that/what would he have to do?

State is NY, if it matters.

Hmm. You have a social worker I assume? You may want to run this past her/him… Since he is so young, it is tricky…
