Can my dog be pregnant?

I have a male and female dog. As soon as we noticed she was in heat we keept them apart since we didnt want her to get pregnant. She has beem bleeding for about a little over 2 weeks… We noticed that her nipples got swollen and wondered if she could be pregnant. She is still bleeding and her vagina is also a bit swollen (its going down though). Can anybody help me??

It could be a false pregnancy but the only way to tell is to wait and see or take her to the vet.

If you don’t want to be so worried get your dogs fixed!

If you go to a humane society with your pets or make an appointment it can be as little as 30 dollars to up to 75 if you take them to the vet which isn’t all that much. Its a lot better than what you would spend taking care of a litter of puppies!

youll never know for sure unless you take her to the vet to get checked out

Right now when she has stopped bleeding and her vulva is swollen is her FERTILE time. Continue to keep her separated from the male so that she does not become pregnant. You can allow them to be together again after the male stops showing interest and her vulva goes back down to it’s normal size. It is common for a female in heat to have swollen nipples due to their hormones as during heat is the only time females are exposed to their female hormones.
