Can I get my period the day of sex and be pregnant?

me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex the morning my period started. it lasted the normal amount of days and its been like a week since it ended and we only had unprotected that one time im just curious if I could be pregnant . or would me being pregnant stop the period.. I’ve been pregnant before and I didnt have any period soo im a little confused about this help??

Chances are you didn’t ovulate during that time and his ejaculate was pushed out with your menses but it is still possible to get pregnant anytime during your cycle as every woman ovulates at different times during her cycle.

To know for sure when you ovulate you should be using Fertility Awareness methods such as taking your basal body temperature daily and checking your cervical mucous for when ovulation is indicated. Search online for fertility charting, there are many programs available online to help you know when you ovulate so you’ll know what days during your cycle to abstain from sex to prevent a pregnancy. (a word of caution though - don’t trust the fertility charts that “”figure it all out for you”” on a 28 day cycle. They are not accurate.)

If you plan on having unprotected sex in the future and aren’t using fertility awareness then you should talk to your health care physician about hormonal birth control options.

Remember, only condoms will protect you against STDs and STIs.
