Can anyone help me figure out how to get a job?

I have a couple of felonies on my record, completed everything that I needed to do a year ago, but am running into the issue of no one wanting to hire me because of my past, is there anyone out there who can tell me where I can go to find a job for convicted felons, or where I can find a list of companies who would hire one?

It is best to be honest on the application since the employer will be doing a background check anyway and will find out about your past. If you don’t put it down and you sign the application this would lead to problems.

There is a book out there that is specifically for ex offenders and I think that it would be extremely helpful to you. The name of the book is: “The Ex-offenders Job Hunting Guide” by Ron and Caryl Krannich. You can purchase it at most book stores or may find a copy in your local library.

You may want to consider working with a Temp Agency or a Job Agency (ones in which the employer pays the fee) to assist you in finding a job. There are incentives for employers to hire ex offenders - they get special tax credits. You can also visit your local Job Service Center or CareerLink office (this is the old unemployment office) for assistance. They offer a wealth of information and free help to those seeking employment.

Hope that this is helpful to you. Good luck with your job search.

you could always work for your self it isnt that hard. a lot of people now make money from the internet. I have a home based internet business I started up for about £35 2 years ago where by i make money from the intenet. I now work from home running this online business. Its not a get rich scheme and you do have to put some effort in. I have made a website that reviews the best of the products I have tried (and still use). It is not a scam and its no skin off my nose if you don’t use these as they are not mine I am just letting people know you can make money from the internet.Good luck with what you do. www.digistar-solutions.com

It’s hard when a person has paid their “debt to society”, and yet the general public has this notion of continuing to punish a person. Quite stupid really. Anyways, jobs in your area can be rather easy to find. Businesses are reluctant to hire felons because of trust issues. They are afraid that you’ll be bad for business because of the stigma that is attached to you. More than likely the main reason exconvicts reoffend. Try a major fast food chain. It may suck at first, but it’s a place to start. Humbling for sure but if you do get hired it’s your chance to prove that you are without a doubt, a responsible and trustworthy person.

Good hunting.

They should have a list of companies at your local police staion, or some type of program that helps felons get jobs. Try looking there. Good luck!
