Can a Christian wear skull and bones and listen to heavy metal?

Ok I DON’T wear skull and bones all the time but I like it but not OD, and I listen to every kind of music except for country. But I go to a Christian school and although I have my own style some people think it’s wrong to listen to heavy metal or death metal. I DON’T wear black everyday I change up my style. Not only that they feel like me wearing a choker with skulls on it is a bad thing…and I’m like no. I don’t worship the devil or anything O.o So, what do you think?

Answer #1

honestly, I go through the same. adn I think I understand their point- kinda! hah well, it really depends what type of heavy metal, like my own opinion, I think screamo is satanic- it scares me and doesnt feel right. but too the christians all th ebeavy metall is satanic. I PERSONALLY dont think so. I like heavy metal and listen to it. but I guess watever song you dont feel comfy listening too-u shud juss stop immedialty, you may never know… mm,, I wouldnt recommend wearin a skull either- that is- if you can handle not wearing one. it doesnt show that your a christian, unless your not trying to do so. its nnot christianly, why symbnolizing a skull?? doesnt it mean dead??!! dead … why would you be dead? plus I heard MANY many christians say its demonic. so theri ya go- hope it helped~ haha =]

Answer #2

thats why bible is here to lead everyone to the same path omg believe your stupid bs

…maybe the BIBLE is a trick TOO…

Answer #3

If you feel ok about it then why not? There is nothing evil about a skull and crossbones. If bones are evil then I am screwed seeing as im a christian who studies anatomy which involves looking at a large amount of actual human bones.

On a side note, it would be nice if non-christian people would refrain from telling people exactly what it is that christian people think seeing as they have no clue. I dont go around pretending to know what non-christians (or anyone else for that matter) are thinking or telling them they are satan worshippers destined for eternal damnation or whatever else it is all christian people supposedly say so it would be nice if you could do us the same courtesy.

Answer #4

im not arguing anymore because churches have brain washed yall to think that everything you do is ok! why would god send us the bible to ignore it??? no to guide us the was god wants us to be guided not what you think is right for yourself because everyone has different morals!! thats why bible is here to lead everyone to the same path omg believe your stupid bs

Answer #7

Reminds me of when I sold skate boards in the 1980’s. Parents would come in to buy their kids a deck and ask us if we had anything that wasn’t Satanic.

We sold a lot of Gators because it was about the only deck we had that didn’t have skulls on them. My favorite comment was parents holding up a Natus deck and informing us that it was Satan spelled backwards. I would tell them that Natus Kapus is a famous skater and it is his real name. I guess some people see Satan in everything.

I suppose a skull could be considered a graven image depending on how you interpret it.

…wow… all hail SUTAN… and his most wickedly-sick Judo Air…

So let’s recap. Over the past year or so, we’ve learned that Satan masquerades as bedsheets… and a skateboard… riveting…

– When ever I am in a situation such as you are, I just ask myself if it is something Jesus would do. –

The long hair? The rebellious attitude against authority figures? Drinking his own blood and feasting on his own flesh? Jesus was totally metal, dude. He’d be listening to Star Scream and Gehenna right now.

Answer #10

not ALL christians are like that!! yeah there are some that think an act that way but doesnt mean they’re all like that. But you can be Christian an do what you want as long as it doesnt come between you an God. It may be “looked down on:” by some christians or whatever but nobody but GOD can judge u. If you feel like its ok for you to then it is ok. If you are a christian I suggest you pray about it. Only He can really help u.

Answer #14

apparently christians beleive things like skulls, the colour and metal music are evil (stupid really) but thats what they think of course not all metal music is full of people singing about death or evil things, so its not all “‘evil”‘ but most christians beleive it is so I would say no, they wouldnt appove of it but really, who cares if you beleive in a god then surely that god wouldnt give a crap about what kind of music you listen to or what you wear

Answer #15

Sweetheart…there are so many opinions about what is wrong and what is right…what is important is not that you are worshiping the devil or not…but rather if the stuff you have doubts about, go see what are the origin of those things. Remember, everything in life either brings you closer to the Creator, or take you further away. See if you can get your hands on a movie called: “They sold their souls for rock and role” :)

Answer #17

Skulls and crossbones and metal are NOT devil worship. It’s not wrong - anyone who says it is doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Skulls aren’t evil and don’t represent the devil in any way.

There are actually Christian metal bands out there. It doesn’t make someone a devil worshiper just because they wear stuff with skulls on it, wear black, or listen to metal.

Don’t worry about it - your not a bad person. Your doing nothing wrong at all. Your just being yourself and that’s 100% cool. I love metal and skulls too.

I wear black a lot. But does that automatically mean I’m a satanist? No, not at all.

Answer #18

I think it is a tough question. If it does represent death, as a Christian, we do not have to fear death, and it may be a great way to share your faith upon someone asking about why you have it if you’re a Christian. But then again it may cause others to question your integrity as a Christian, and we are not supposed to cause others to stumble in their walk. So it is a tough question. Here is what I think is some good advice for a lot of questions that may be close to “crossing the line”. If I were to draw a circle on the ground, and tell you to get in the circle (anywhere you want) and I would give you a million dollars if I could push you one time, and you not go out of the circle. Where would you go? Right up to the edge? No, you would go to the center, staying away from the line as far as possible. Sometimes when we try to get close to “the line”, it really shows us whether we really want what we claim. If you feel like it is wrong, get away from it as far as you can. Again, I don’t know the answer on the skulls, but look at your values, and position yourself accordingly.

Answer #19

We should all examine what we allow into our lives. If you are a Christian, you should not want to focus on things that are dark or that represents death. God represents life, not death. Christians should exhibit the fruits of the spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. One of the markers of a Christian is someone that cares about other people. Therefore, a Christian should set an example to the world that doesn’t confuse or blur the line between Christian behavior and worldly behavior. If you think Jesus would listen to heavy metal music and wear skull and cross bones, then it would be OK for Christians. The reality is that He wouldn’t. Most people want to live on the fringe because they haven’t established who they are, or they have a low self-esteem. Let God be your identity and your strength; Be diligent to show that you’re unmistakably Christian.

This doesn’t mean your a bad person. God is a God of forgiveness and love. when we “mess up”, God is “faithful and just to forgive us”, but first we have to acknowledge that what we are doing is not God’s will. When we do that, and repent, God will restore us. Once we do this, we must put off things that drag us down as Christians.

I like the “what would Jesus do” thing the best. If you rmember in your bible, if you want to know what Jesus would do, its flip tables over in a bazaar and denounce the Roman coins that turned into in time our modern money. Jesus would listen to what he wanted realising that our complex God gave him a choice of all thing. Then he would keep in mind not to hurt anyone. Which s what the foundation of every bible is, the ten commandments, Thery are made to tell us nott hurt others.Like 2cute18, this peson as already judged you, But this is not our jplace. I have to agree I would think that Jesus would be listening to anything he liked and weaing what he liked. Free2say hit it right on, so did most others. Just realise that you need to be who God created and ot who the conforming public wants. and with your freedom, the responsibility to handle it the moraly correct way. Someone scoffs at you, turn the other cheek.

“For our unknown creator is all around us. If God did not want for you to be free, you simply would under God’s total control.” Echo Seuriah

Answer #21

actually, at some point skull does represent death, it is very symbolic I’d say. I don’t know why anyone would not relate skull and bones to death. And as the name implies, heavy metal is not something light.[duh] bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is gentle, loving and etc… And no one prays that “I pray im not like the holy spirit”, no we all pray to have attributes that resemble the holy spirit, gentle, loving kind and so on

There is a reason why Jesus does not act like some aggressive mob, contrary to what someone said that he drank his own blood and ate his own flesh[apparently the guy knows nothing but taking the bible literally when he shouldn’t]

On a more scientific note, it is proven that what music you listen to on a given-time basis is indirectly influencing you, because it is what you input into your brain, therefore sub-conciously I think it will influence.

so dude, think yourself, I definately SAY NO to these, even so, why take the risk, is the creation of the world that of great importance that you need to take a risk so that you get what you want in this world? “Do not love this world”, do not mix it up with the wonders that God created.

Answer #22

in my personal opinion ive always fought about wearing skulls and cross bbones and said that theyre not bad but in real life think about it.the bones inside you you cant see cause your alive if you can see your own bones your dead so i mean maybe theyre bad maybe theyre not im christian and refrain from wearing stuff resembling our enemy satan.i listen to hardcore music deathcore or w.e ppl call it now adays i go to church i pray i play drums at my church and everyones always saying its bad to listen to it but honestly ive always heard ppl say if it feels bad then drop it i listen to it mostly for teaching purposes so i can learn drum beats etc. but never listen to other ppls opinions on what you like just cause they dont like it doesnt mean you dont have to either God gave us freedom of will anything thats bad God taps you on the shoulder and gives you a hint so just follow your heart is what i gotta say

Answer #23

I believe the correct answer is not asking other people what they think about does and don’t’s. The only correct answer is to direct you toward the Word of God, if your a Christian. Search the scriptures to see what Gods words say about your given situation or concerns. You may or may not find what your looking for when you want, but the answers are in the word. Look at Jesus ministry, see how he lived he’s life. Ask your self, did Jesus ever do this or that? if Jesus didn’t do such things then why would you. We as Christian are suppose to be like Christ, live as he did do grater things in he’s name. All things in this body is suppose to glorify Christ. Is wearing skull and bones glorifying Jesus or your self?
