I really need help with a problem

Who was Cain’s wife???

Because in the bible one minute Cain is getting told he is screwed for the rest of life…

(Genesis 4:15) The lord replied, “No, for I will give a sevenfold punishment to anyone who kills you.” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain to warn anyone who might try to kill him. (G4:16) So Cain left the Lord’s presence and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

Then next thing you know he’s getting laid, having a kid and naming a city…

(Genesis 4:17) Cain had sexual relations with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Then Cain founded a city, which he named Enoch, after his son.

So what I want to know is where did Cain’s wife from? Reading the bible as it is written it might as well say that she showed up from out of no where. What was her name? Who were her parents? Sorry but I think their is some vital information missing there… If there was only Adam and Eve his wife was either Eve(his mum) or Adam and Eve had a daughter which did not disclosed to Moses and Cain hooked up with her (which would be his sister). Or another scenario is Adam and Eve had an undisclosed daughter, Adam got her pregnant and she had a daughter and then she became Cain’s wife (which would make her his half-sister/niece)

So could some one please answer this because it is totally doing my head in.

etyhvh, you do realize that the book of Jubilees was written hundreds of years, if not thousands of years after the original text stating that Adam & Eve only had 3 Sons. Jubilees was written by an anonymous author who basically sought to explain what could not be explained, so he made up the book to explain where his wife came from. The church denied the book do to the fact that incest was looked down upon & the scriptures were lost. Oh, they were later found, some being the dead sea scrolls if I recall correctly.

You know Adam’s supposed first wife, Lilith. When Adam and Eve were band from paradise, it’ said Adam went back to Lilith for a time. In that time Lilith had for daughters, the succubus, hence her title queen of succubus. He left her and later went back to Eve. It’s believed that perhaps it’s one of Lilith’s four daughters that Cain went with, which yes, would be his half sister.

Perhaps God choose to leave out this detail… as a stumbling block???

He has put others in the word, for the same purpose.

This is the same reason he chose to use parables…

Both reveal the condition of ones heart.

If all you are looking for are inconsistances, you will find them.

ON the other hand, if you are a true seeker of the word and the truth, you will leave details such as this to God.

When I first came to God, and started reading his word, I found this question also, however, my faith was greater than my desire for an answer, so, I continued on in my relationship with God, and it has been very rewarding. That was 24 years ago, and I do not regret for one moment, the fact that the answer to this question was omitted from the text. You will find more as you go along, and if you turn your back on God, because of this, you will miss more than you willl ever know.

Also Captain, all courts in the US used the bible to swear on, this has only changed in my lifetime.

“The simple answer? The bible is fiction, 100% made up”.

The Bible was written by people who were interested in keeping the truth of Jesus alive. They were eyewitnesses of the events or spoke to those who were. People lost their lives trying to report the truth.. If it was indeed fiction, would human being be so carefree as to risk their lives and their families’ to report on events that are made-up??!!!

Yes yes, I know a few of you will say, The Bible was translated from one generation to the next and so forth and hence the content has been lost in translation, but THAT does not mean the content or meaning is false.

Why is it ok for people who don’t believe in the Bible to be so readily accepting of a person who testifies in the court of law as an eye witness to an event and give THEIR own version of what they saw as the truth…. Hey isn’t that the same as what the people in the Bible are doing, they are giving their own account of what happen !!!

( From one cheese off non-zealot Christian who just about had enough of the pack mentality on here)

By the way, back to the question: Cain’s wife was his sister.

Book of jubilees…in other words: the bible has been messed with by man becuase while God told man the “truth” man decided, willy nilly, to nuke one of the most important books, which results in people, mistakenly, believing that which did not actually occur…

…that’s the gist of what you’re saying, right? Man decided we couldn’t handle the truth, altered the book…and, we’re supposed to figure out, on our own, the priests, pastors and bishops LIE routinely about the bible…and then, go out into the world, and piece it all together?

…funny: if one bit is clearly a lie (even if it’s a lie by omission) then the bits about the bible being “whole & perfect” fall apart, right?

Answer #5

According to the Book of Jubilees Adam and Eve gave birth to nine sons and daughters also. Jubilees goes on to say that Cain married his sister Awam and Seth married his sister Azura. One can understand how the Book of Jubilees is objectionable in the eyes of man today, but not in the beginning of creation. At beginning of creation, there would not have been an incestuous idea. In addition, God told man and woman to be fruitful and multiply. So, if Adam and Eve were the only humans, the earth could not be replenished if they did not conceive and allow their children to mate and conceive with each other. This possibility of Cain’s wife being his sister would be acceptable in today’s Bible with an explanation that at the time of Cain and Able marriage within family was not a sin. This then would explain where Cain got a wife.

Therefore, if when Cain went to the land of Nod, his sister possibly being in love with him may have left with him. The land of Nod does not exist geographically; so, the name Nod could be compelled to be interpreted symbolizing a time of sleepiness, unconsciousness or conceivably an interval of wandering. Going on the hypothesis of a time of wandering this would rationalize why no account of a land called Nod is found. If, when, banished by God, Cain departed with his sister Awam and at some time knew her as his wife and she conceived a child-this possibly could be an acceptable answer.

If all you are looking for are inconsistances, you will find them.

…and if you’re looking for infallibility, you’ll ignore all the flaws.

Also Captain, all courts in the US used the bible to swear on, this has only changed in my lifetime.

…yeah… it took them awhile to realize it was biased and un-American… what’s your point?

Answer #7

…funny: if one bit is clearly a lie (even if it’s a lie by omission) then the bits about the bible being whole perfect fall apart, right?

God’s message is perfect … man’s efforts to record and preserve the whole picture - human at best.

I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. ~ John 16:12

Had Christ attempted to tell his followers about our days and times, they would have declared Him ^certifiably nuts^ - not unlike what man does today, assuming they believe He ever was.

Answer #8

I was thinking about it though and thought maybe it doesn’t mention his wife because in those days women weren’t as important as men, and didn’t have equal rights. So Moses may have thought when he was writing Genesis that no one would be interested or care about the women. So maybe thats why it doesn’t mention who his wife was???

Answer #9

Why is it ok for people who don’t believe in the Bible to be so readily accepting of a person who testifies in the court of law as an eye witness to an event and give THEIR own version of what they saw as the truth….

In a court of law, if you mention a talking flaming bush, your testimony will be promptly thrown out as a witness, and as a defendant, your lawyer will motion for a plead of insanity. Don’t try to compare the Bible to a courthouse, it won’t turn out well…

Answer #10

So when Moses wrote Genesis he couldn’t be bothered writing…

(Genesis 4:17) Cain had sexual relations with his wife, Awam and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Then Cain founded a city, which he named Enoch, after his son.

???

Another question though is, you get married in the eys of God right? So you are telling me that God cursed Cain pretty much to within an inch of his life, but still witnessed the marriage of Cain and Awam???

I agree with The Dude, the bible is fiction. It’s a Hoax.

The bible was created to control the blind and the weak.

Answer #11

The simple answer? The bible is fiction, 100% made up.

However, the faithful will tell you …well, actually, I don’t know what they would say, but, I’m sure that nearly 1 billion Christians can’t be following a book with such an egregious factual error…that’d be like, well, blind faith, right?

What I don’t get is…this is clearly, unequivocally, wrong. No getting around it (as a few other things in the bible).

So, if some stuff from the bible is up for interpretation, or wrong…isn’t the whole thing up for interpretation & potentially wrong?
