Actually, I would NOT confront him. Instead I would find out who the gift was originally for. If there is any talkative person (sister. mother, friend) who knows him well, ask them whether they know who another girls name is. Most probably his ex-girlfriend, but maybe she could also be a relative who was in hospital? Or some other, rather harmless acquaintance? Maybe they don’t know her at all. He might have bought your gift on e-bay and never even read the tag… find out.

If you can’t find out…. or if there is a good explanation for the name (like… his 7 year old cousin was in hospital and he wanted to give her that gift, but then her mom forbid him to take the plush animal as she is allergic to house dust mites which he didn’t know and then he got her something else)… I’d still make a scene about it. Just to punish him for being careless and not removing the tag.

If she’s really his ex (or even his OTHER girlfriend), then I’d try to contact her. And tell her about your gift. Ask her to help you take revenge. And then pretend to him that you two are best friends. “I met that girl, she’s soooo nice… We shared these poems on the web and we talked on chat for hours. She’s soooo my wavelength. We met at the library. She’s so cool, my new friend. You have to meet her, her name is XYZ and she goes to whatever-highschool…” Yeah, and then watch him panic. Push him until he admits it. >:-)

If I had noticed the label without him knowing I noticed, I would open the gift and no matter what it was I would criticize it, tell him that it was rubbish, and doesn’t he think I am worth more than this piece of tat.

I would let him squirm, and argue that it cost him this much and how he chose it specially, and how he really thought I would like.

I would then pick up the label, throw it at him, then throw the gift, and tell him to take it to the other person.

You should confront him about it and see what happened. If the gift really was for someone eltse then ask him who it was for, if he wont tell you, then eather leave it or try and figur it out for your self.

I think it depends what it says on the tag… was your name similar to that other name? was the name written by hand or is it prewritten on the tag?
