Is My Boyfriend Depressed

I ask this question because my boyfriends family has totally abandoned him. They have nothing to do with him, they don’t call him, they don’t visit him, they don’t invite him to go out with them, his own parents have even said they hated him and that they wish he was dead, his siblings have said the same thing to him too.I don’t know why his family is treating him the way they’re treating him and neither does he.

My boyfriend is 23 years old and he’s a really sweet guy,he lives with me and he has a good job and a car.I love him with all my heart, but lately for the past two months he’s always been so sad.He cries a lot,he has no appetite so he doesn’t eat and he lost weight and he doesn’t really talk to me or his friends anymore. He doesn’t go out anymore.

When he gets off work which is at 2:00pm he’ll come home and he’ll sit in the bedroom alone and cry his heart out and then at around 3:00pm he’ll go to bed and he won’t wake up until the next morning to go to work.On his days off he’ll sleep through the entire day which is what he’s doing right now.

I comfort him when he’s crying and I tell him how much I love him and that I’ll always be here for him but that doesn’t do any good.I try encouraging him to talk to a professional and I even offer to go with him for support but he tells me he’s not depressed and that he doesn’t need to see a professional but I feel like he is.I don’t pressure him into seeing a professional but I wish he would go see someone.

He’s so sad and he’s hurting so bad,and I just can’t stand seeing him in so much pain. It’s so heartbreaking for me to see him cry so much because of how his family is treating him now.Does anyone have any advice? Sorry for the extremely long question.

Yes, he is depressed. I’m sure he knows why his family is treating him like that because things like that don’t just happen out of the blue, he’s just not telling you why. You need to put your foot down and say that you are extremely worried about him and you will not stand to see him cry himself to sleep every single day. Tell him that he can’t BS you into thinking that he’s fine when he’s not. He needs to seek professional help if he doesn’t talk to you or anyone. It is not good to keep those feelings to himself. It’s for his own good….
