Where can I read the book "Life as we Knew it"?
Ok, so have you ever read the book Life As We Knew It? Ok well do you have any places online that I can read it, or maybe if you own it, can you give me 8 good vocab words?? I have a book report due tomorrow, and my school is closed!!
Thank You SO Much
I have this book! It’s brilliant. Here’s the description:
No shops. No TV.
No electricity. No daylight.
No idea if your family is alive or dead …
Could you survive?
An asteroid will hit the moon at 9.30 this evening. The astronomers say there’s nothing to worry about.
What if they’re wrong?
Anyway, the main character is Miranda, aged 15-16. She has two brothers. Matt is older and Jonny is younger. Their parents divorced, their dad got a new partner who is pregnant. It’s predicted that an asteroid will hit the moon and everyone gets excited about it. But when it finally happens, everything starts going terribly wrong. The moon has somehow been pulled closer to the earth and this affects the earth in many devastating ways. Tsunamis claim many countries around the globe, even washing away the Statue of Liberty. Freak thunderstorms scare many people. Volcanoes erupt, not just causing havoc with molten lava but also making the air so full of ash that plants and crops don’t get enough sunlight and drinking water is polluted. Snowstorms make it almost impossible to travel as far as the top of a street and also make people so ill that they cannot survive, whether they die of hunger, coldness or illness. Many people get carried away because sources of food, clothing, fuel, electricity and even water are very valuable for survival. The world has become a very scary place, as it shows in Miranda’s diary. The ending? Well, if this book is going to be read by teenagers all over the world they’d want to keep the ending from being too depressing. It’s not exactly the happiest ending ever, but it could be a lot worse. =o)
