my boobs hurt and have been hurting for about a week why???

Hi, I am a family planning doctor in England so hope my advice helps.

Tender breasts can be caused by several things ;

1 )pregnancy

  1. depending on your age - if they are still growing (which they do, sometimes even until your 21 years old) this can cause some pain or discomfort

  2. if you are due on your period, your breasts can hurt for up to 2 weeks before you actually start your period.

If you suspect you are pregnant, take a test to put your mind at ease almost immediately. If you are think it is because you are still growing or your due on your period, use a hot water bottle (not too hot though) and rest it over your breasts. This will make the muscles relax and will ease the pain and discomfort your feeling.

yeah, my boobs usually hurt during obvulation up until the end of my period, about 2 to 3 weeks each month. some months they dont hurt, others they do and it didnt start until this year (in 18 and I’ve had my period since I was 12 so dont be 2 alarmed) just wait it out and see if your period comes, if it doesnt, you may be pregers and should take a test 2 make sure. if you havent had sex, dont worry about it. its just part of being a woman.
