why does black pernament dye come out of my hair every time i wash my hair?

I recently dyed my hair midnight black. I followed all the instructions and even used the conditioner in the package. I have done this several years ago and same thing happened; i would see the water turning purple/ blue every wash. Note: i washed the dye out properly when i dyed it.

Answer #1

I used to dye my hair black, it always came out slightly every time I washed it. I guess thats just what happens.

Answer #2

Its normal. The first week or so when you wash your hair youll notice that color bleeds out. Try not washing your hair every day if you can, and using cold water instead of hot.

Answer #3

but i always notice my hair actually turning brown again.

Answer #4

Even permanant dye isnt completely permanant, its going to fade. Especially if you used a cheap dye. The best way to make color last is by getting it professinaly done.

Answer #5

Hey, I used bluey-black hair dye. It will come out the first 3-5 washes and will start to fade but that’s why you dye it again. It’s not completely permanent x[

Answer #6

If you brought the dye from a supermarket/drug store and did it yourself it will not work as well as having it professionally coloured. It is normal to have some blue/purple rinse out the first 2 or 3 times you wash your hair if you have coloured it black, but not normal to have a lot rinsing out. Try shampooing twice next time you wash your hair.

Answer #7

I used to have that same problem. Then when I got it professionally done, the lady told me it will fade, but what helps is washing your hair in cold/lukewarm water. Also, the shampoo you use. She told me waxy ones are worse (Aussie, even Pantene Pro-V) and the best shampoos/conditioners to use are ones like Dove and Herbal Essence.

Answer #8

if your hair is lighter and you go straight from blonde to black, it will wash out. the reason being that your hair is blonde underneath the black. its best to gradually darken your hair so the colors underneath your darker shade aren’t a big difference. trust me, i went from white blonde to nearly black. i know what im talking about.
