Why do birds have reunions?

I was on my way home today when a flock of about 2000 snow geese landed in a dead cornfield. Why do birds have reunions? Are they even reunions?

I always find Geese flying in simulation to a specific spot. It’s like their own gathering site, they communicate, eat, and then fly to another spot. Just a way of life :3
