I got my belly pierced last tuesday it was fine until today Its been a little red and crusty But I push it up and down when cleaning it ( I clean it twice a day with sea salt and boiled water) the lady told me to so the skin doesnt grow around it But im scared its got infected Its not pussing just a tiny tiny bit crusty and a bit red

Answer #1

Do not use peroxide. It can stop the piercing from healing as it harms the skin surrounding the piercing.

Answer #2

in the shower like you wash the rest of your body

Answer #3

thanks! I’m gald someone has faith in education!

Answer #4

peroxide does NOT harm skin.

Answer #5

clean it with antibacterial soap and saline solution. rub the soap on it and move the ring in and out several times( it may burn a little that means its cleaning it) and rinse the soap off with saline solution ( product used for contacts) I have my belly button pierced for 6 years now and that is what I used it healed nicely. DO NOT USE PEROXIDE OR RUBBING ALCOHOL!!! It damages the tissue inside of the belly button ring. I hope this helps you and you use my advice.

Answer #6

KIDS: read the directions on the back of the friggin bottle of peroxide! “For use on surface wounds only. Do not use on puncture wounds or bites.” Does a hole through your flesh sound more like a surface wound, or a puncture wound?! Peroxide dries out the piercing and doesn’t allow it to heal. Leave peroxide out.

Answer #7

Not going to argue anymore - OP believe who you want. I’m telling you in the 2 years I was at the shop - they NEVER told anyone to use Peroxide on a piercing. You can use it - you’ll see, your piercing will take twice as long to heal and probley become infected or your body will reject the piercing. Anyways - good luck.

Answer #8

how would I clean it with antibacterial soap !!! ???

Answer #9

how would I use atni bacterial hand soap to clean itt ??

Answer #10

YES it does.

You should NOT put peroxide onto a piercing. It can cause the piercing to reject and it can cause the piercing to not heal properly. We NEVER tell people to use peroxide at our shop.

Answer #11

Actually - I worked in a tattoo/piercing parlor for 2 years - and they NEVER tell anyone to put peroxide on a piercing. Your right it doesn’t harm anyone skin - under normal circumstances, but a piercing is different. Putting peroxide on a piercing will dry the piercing out and harm the healing process.

Answer #13

if it is a concentraited solution she will be buying it from a store where it be a consumer product and NOT full strength hydrgen peroxide

Answer #14

well clearly you haven’t done your research or been educated in the medical field

Answer #15

every one who has ever had their navel pierced will tell you it has gotten infected at least once what I did was put a little peroxide in a cup and held it upside down on my piercing it will kill the infection and dry the puss

Answer #16

That sounds normal - the crusting and redness. To make sure it’s clean and just in case it’s an infection though:

-Clean it twice a day with anti-bacterial soap (non-scented) - sea salt does not clean the piercing it just helps with the healing process. -Still use your sea salt and warm water twice a day.

If it doesn’t improve in 2-3 days - see a doctor for anti-biotics.

Answer #17

peroxide does NOT harm skin. the soap that you want to use is dial anti bacterial hand soap the liquid form not the bar soap

Answer #18

You can get the squirty antibacterial soap. Buy that and squeeze some onto a cotton BUD (not a cotton wool pad) and wipe around your belly button.

Answer #19

You can make a solution of soap and water:

You can either put it in a spray bottle - and spray the piercing very well - make sure the soap get’s in the piercing.

or

You can put it in a cup, then hold the cup against your stomach so that they soapy water is soaking your piercing. Leave it there for 1 minute - then remove and clean it with regular water to get the soap out.

Answer #20

DO NOT use peroxide on a piercing. I work in a pharmacy and that is so not a good thing to do. Best thing is to use salt water to clean it out. I personally used something called Zambuk ointment on mine…it is an excellent herbal ointment that you get down here- the piercing shop actually recommended it and it healed very fast.
