Belly Button Ring ?

I’m 14, and I want to get my belly button pierced. Some of my friends have them (That is not the reason I want it though) I’ve had my ears pierced 5 times and my parents don’t care about that, but they say if I get my bellybutton pierced it’ll get infected (I’ve never had an infection in any of my other piercings, they didn’t hurt at all or bother me after) And/Or leave an awful scar. Is this true/possible ? I need help convincing them that a piercing there is not so bad, especially compared to nose, lip, eyebrow, etc. I’ve told them I can cover it up, And it’s not a huge deal, but is there any other way I can convince them ?

well at your age, I wouldn’t advise it because your body is still growing so be the time your around 16 it will be half pushed out and just dangle there it would be best to wait a few more years, at least 1 or 2 more other than that it still will leave a permanent and noticeable scar that you’ll notice above your bellybutton and they do tend to get infected or get a crusty ball around them but with the proper care, wont be too much to worry about but it is better than a facial piercing an eyebrow ring is a surface piercing meaning it will grow out and its not permanent and it leave s a very permanent noticeable scar a lip ring will stay there, but will still leave a scar, not as noticeable as the eyebrow ring will though as well as that schools with a dress code don’t allow facial piercings and most jobs consider than unattractive and unprofessional while the navel (bellybutton) ring is out of the way and you cant see it but its still a piercing, which is a wound (hole in your flesh) they all require some care and they will all leave a scar when you take them out also at 14 youll have to bring a parent with I.d to consent to it but around the age of 16 you can get it done without a parents consent (by yourself)

my parents were the same way. I got mine done when I turned fifteen. like I have had it for a few months..any peircing can get infected. its not just a bbutton ring. as long as you take care of it. mine got infected but some wonderful people on this site helped me out lol. so just try telling them that you will be responsible and even offer to pay for it helps=]

Answer #5

Lol mine were the same way, and they actually don’t know that I have it…

Uhmm if you take it out though it can leave a pretty gross looking scar, it depends on your skin really… But it’ll probably heal over just like any other normal piercing…

It’s rare to get an infection as long as you clean it well…

It sounds like your parents aren’t too familiar with piercings and the true facts behind them. Let them know that as long as you have it done professionally and take care of it, it’ll be just fine and you won’t get an infection. Since your only 14, your parent/legal guardian will need to go with you when you get it done the legal age for getting a piercing/tattoo without parental consent is 18. Scaring is VERY unlikely and if it would scar, it won’t be very bad or noticeable. ALL piercings are absolutely FINE. They’re nothing more than forms of body art and self expression.

I hope this helped you out, if you need anything else, let me know.
