BC question

My husband is 34 and Im 27. I have been using the birth control pill for 10 years and want to get off of it because Im afraid of health risks as Im getting older. Neither one of us wants kids but then again, will we change our minds in a few years I dont know. I asked him if he would get a vasectomy if he doesnt want any kids but he wont even consider it and thinks Im nuts for worrying about the pill and thinks its no big deal that Im taking it and nothing can happen. I dont know what to do. I dont want to get pregnant now or maybe ever and am afraid a condom may break then what? Should I just keep taking the pill anyway? And Im allergic to spermicide otherwise Id feel better about using a condom.

There are other options that are hormone free that you can use.

Diaphrams and cervical caps: http://www.epigee.org/guide/cap.html

Check out the femcap: http://www.femcap.com/latest_news.htm

There are also other methods such as charting.(sometimes called the rhythm method) It is usually used to tell when a woman is most fertile and most likely to conceive, but likewise it can be used to tell when you are not fertile.

Withdrawal is another option. While not effective on it’s own, in conjunction with another type of barrier birth control it may reduce risk of pregnancy.

Hope this helps!
