Bad haircut

I just got back from the hairdresser and I’m not happy. I asked for a cut and for shorter layers, including a side-swept fringe. The girl cutting my hair seemed a bit hesitant, like she was new to doing it. It took her 3 times as long to finish my hair compared to my friend who went in with me and got a similar thing done. She cut my fringe on one side and not the other, so it’s uneven and looks like I cut it myself. I reluctantly paid the $80 and left…but now im home and looking at it I don’t like it. Plus the hair keeps poking me in my eyes. Would I be justified in going back there and getting them to fix it or is that rude? I feel a bit embarassed going back after I seemed to be happy when I left. Please advise. Thanks

The called me straight after I sent the email (yes I know an email is the cowards way to go about complaining - so call me a coward!) and asked me to come back in to the salon. I reluctantly went back there, REALLY hoping that the girl who cut my hair wasn’t there. She was - how awkward. But the other girl (who cut my friend’s hair and did a great job) sat me down and listened to my concerns. She offered to cut my fringe shorter so it wasn’t in my eyes and annoying me but I really didnt want a short fringe to begin with so I said no. Instead, she blended it into the rest of my hair a bit more so it wasn’t so obvious looking. I still don’t like it but she gave me some free haircare products so I guess that will do. They are good products, worth about $100. I think she was worried I would go tell all my friends not to go there, as they are a new salon trying to build up a loyal client base. OH WELL. I won’t ever be going back there!

I would hope any business that doesn’t want their reputation trashed would happily fix your hair. No, that would not be rude. Not in the least…I know sometimes it’s hard to speak up, but you are paying them, and they need to do their job right. Next time you get you hair done and you don’t like any aspect of what they did, tell them what you don’t like and they will do something about it.

I’ve gone back in, they’ll either give your money back, or re-cut it. So theres no rudeness in trying to get what you asked for.

Answer #4

well you shouldnt have juxst paid her and left when you got it done you should have complaiuned and at least asked for a discount since you dont think its fair to pay for something you dont want if you have the receipt, or can prove that you went there, go back and complain its probably too late to ask for a dicount now because youve alreday paid, so go back and ask if they can fix it for free because its only fair tell them how unhapy you are with what you got and how its not what you wanted

Answer #5

Oh I’ve left with some truly awful haircuts without complaining (I suck at confrontations). But I’ve never spent $80 on them. I surprized they woud hire someone with no experience in a place that charged that much. Glad you’re doing something about it (you do want to work on your assertiveness though, emails are the least confrontational method and therefore really the least likely to work, but glad you’re doing something!)

Omg, either go back get money back, or get the manger to do something eles with your hair, maybe hair extions if you want lenth agen!!!

Answer #7

I would say go back. I know it seems a liite awkward going back. But I am sure some people do go back for them to fix it. ask for the manager. and you paid 80.. that is a lot .I would go back

Answer #8

If I paid $80 dollars for a haircut, I’d go back there and have them fix it, AND get a balloon. I got my haircut a few weeks ago, and the girl acted like she didn’t know what she was doing and she kept asking one of the girls questions but I didn’t say anything, and she was like “so what year did you graduate?” and I said “07’” and she was like “word? I graduated in 08” I almost fainted.. but she messed up my bangs.. I said 2 inches PAST my eyes and she cut them to my eyebrows… anyway, you should go back.

I know I shouldn’t have paid but I got caught up in the hairdresser’s enthusiasm - you know when they gush about how good it looks regradless of whether thats actually true or not? And she was a really nice girl - I guess I was trying to convice myself at the time that I got my $80 worth. I didnt even get it coloured or anything - I sure as hell wont be going back there. I just wrote them an email explaining my unhappiness and asked what they could do.
