When someone asks "What race are you?" what do they mean?

Answer #3

They don’t wanna pre-judge you even though they most likely already did in their mind they wanna know what you actually are like your background

Answer #4

They’re all pretty white, it could mean white/black/tanned/ “Color of your skin” or your background/religion, it all depends cause everyone is different, some will just say they’re color or the race could include what their religion is.

Answer #5

I believe it means someone wants to know your ethnic background. Like what country did your grandparents come from.

It could mean that they are asking:

Are you African American, Native American, White, etc.

People often confuse the two and use them in exchange for each other.

Answer #6

I usually tell them “homo sapiens” or simply “human”, but sometimes I’ll invent something like “nudipan narrans” (latin-scientific means “naked talking ape”)

Answer #7

Answer #8
