But hey, you’ve already got a lot of really good main points for writing that article. Just think about it in terms of what you yourself have experienced - from your own life, and from your friends.

Just as you say, your parents are usually the ones wbho make the big decisions that affect the entire family (I’m afraid there aren’t many really democratic families that way):

whether to have more children, moving to a new home, maybe even in a totally different place. They often (try to) influence your choice of friends, and what you study at school (and they’d often like to be able to decide what you will do when you are grown up and working) . As you’ve seen on this site, a lot of parents try to influence their children’s religious beliefs as well.. and what your parents believe is in turn the result of their own choices at some point, probably influenced by the choices their own parents once made, and so on…

And their earlier choices can be said to affect you: what they studied at school and how well they did probably influenced the jobs they have today, and how much they’re earning, as well as how happy they are in those jobs…

You’ve got the basics already - just flesh it out with your own experiences!
