Are home pregnancy tests reliable ?

I took a home pregnancy test several times but half the time they say I am pregnant then my dr says I am not after the blood test. so am I doing something wrong? I followed the directions to the letter is it the brand because I usually use the same brand “answer” because its the most inexspensive.

Try a different brand - I find that really odd because false positives are rare.

well my boyfriend says that his ex used to get them because she was on birth control. some bc’s can effect the tests. the only prob is I missed 4 pills just after having sex and yeah he came in me like usual. he should of just put on a rubber. now I am faced with more issues. I missed last months period and I was supose to get it days after when we had sex I had two spots and I was done.I usually have heavy ones. now my boobs hurt A LOT. my back hurts and yeah I feel like I am gunna puke 24/7 I took a test at walmart only because my dad was with me so he wouldnt know I bought one. and I may not have waited the 3 minutes but it only showed one line so I think I am safe but I will take the other in the morning because thats the best time to take one.
