Are emo's only teenagers?

Why do emo’s seem to be only teenagers?

Can anyone be an emo if it means emo-tional? It seems a bit fadd’ish to me but not in a bad way - just similar to the whole goth thing. Like are they any more emotional/depressed than everyone is at teenage stage? Not having a go - just curious.

nowdays hardly anyone nows what emo is its just another steotype and emotions and feelings have nothing to do with stereotypes which is what people dont understand its just a label, another way to catergorise someone, another way for someone to be part of a group, feel exepted, ect, just like any another stereotype of course teenagers are the ones to partake in it all because there still young, thats what they do…they want to find somewere they feel they “belong” there learmning about life, about the problems they have, about how they feel most of them just want to find out if other people feel the same way they do they want people who also share the same problems, so they label themselves unfortunatly, again feelings/problems, ect dont have anything to do with a label that what kids dont get but when they grow up more, theyll learn about it theyll later on learn that majority of the “problems” they have now are trivial and not wortth getting so upset about but for now, thats what they do, they think what there going through isnt normal when in fact it is and they label/catergorise themselves to find other people who have the same kinds of problems they do

Just because your dad does this doesnt mean hes emo, I know quite a few people who do that because they like to be “unexplainable”. Some people do it to try to fit in with their children. I work at a Mall so I see all kinds of people come through with all kinds of getups. I know of at least one whole family that fits the “goth” scene, right down to Granny in Tripp Jeans with the fishnet gloves and body pearcings!!! Now thats an interesting sight to see let me tell you, but when asked why they do it they said because its “unconventional and unexpected of some one our age.” and laughed when people gave them wierd looks.
