Are Americans too eager to sue for damages?

Answer #1

Most Americans see America as an over-litigious society. Problem is, most people are lazy or greedy and they want something for nothing and our legal system allows it.

Answer #2

Are Americans too eager to sue for damages? Many countries including Britain perceive American as a over litigious society, (www.res.org.uk/society/mediabriefings/pdfs/2005/…/de-vries.pdf ). From the $2.86 million McDonald’s case of spilled coffee that was later reduced to $640,000 to a more recent Starbucks case in Tennessee in which the customer sought $250,000 in damages. Some people believe that Americans bring too many cases to court. Others believe that in spite of this perception, many Americans suffer with disputes because they do not have access to courts. Based on your evaluation of a variety of sources that you regularly read, view or hear, what is your opinion? Do we bring too many cases to court?
