What does an antibiotic do while on birthcontrol?

I’ve been on birth control for 3 months now, and I use condoms. But I just started an antibiotic about 5 days ago and I was supposed to start on Sunday? And it is now Tuesday and I haven’t had my period. Does the antibiotic have to do with this? Or is it just normal.. I don’t know. I’ll be honest, I screwed up on my BC twice this month, forgetting to take it at night(when I usually take it) but I take it first thing in the morning. I know I’m not pregnant, just a little freaked.

Using an antibiotic while on birth control pills can cause the birth control pill not to work effectively. If you’ve been playing it safe and using condoms, then you probably have nothing to worry about, but messing around with your pill plus taking the antibiotic could certainly cause your periods to go AWOL.

Indeed! When I was on an antibiotic for an upper respitory infection, my periods were wayyy off track! Which can scare you because they may come late and you may think you are pregnant.
