Another hunting question

is hunting good for the environment? I am doing a paper on this @ school

Answer #1

I don’t like the idea that it’s known as a “sport”. however, here in VA, the deer population is outrageous! if you’re providing food for yourself and/or your family, that’s one thing. if you’re just looking for a good rack to go above your fireplace, get a life. I mean, sure, I’m redneck, but I’m not obsessed with hunting in the sick way that others are.

Yes hunting is good it helps with animals that are over populated and there are exact dates that you can hunt like deer hunting it is only allowed for a certain amout of time and phesant hunting to along with duck. then on the times its not allowed theat gives the animals time to reproduce like with deer hunting you cant shoot doe’s that have baby fons

welll in michigan if the deer population is not controlled it leads to more deer’s suseptable to being hit by your car, less chance for the surviving ones to get food, and a greater likelyhood for disease [such as deer rot, its a big epidemic right now with the deer population] this is how I think about meat as food [just my OPINOIN] : would you rather kill to eat an animal who had no chance at a happy life, who was raised in a barn, possibly under cruel circumstances? possibly abused. and where the animals daily routine is eat, sleep, eat, sleep ORR take part in the natural cycle of life, killing and eating an animal that had a good life, who has had a chance to run free, who has mated, spawned, and the only disruption to its life, is the end of its cycle which you are taking part of, as a preditor preying to the animal. don’t get me wrong I don’t eat meat, but I’d rather someone kill something that had a chance at life, then breed somehting for distruction

Answer #4

“endangered” animals are not legally hunted. It is only those whom the government is attempting to control the population for safety reasons - the deer in Virginia. Driving at night is almost perilous there outside of cities.

Alligators were at one time on the endangered species list. They came back with a fervor and in Florida there is a hunt allowed each year. I no longer hunt for personal reasons, but I do condone it. I’d rather they are hopefully killed quickly than starve to death or die in masses from disease because there are too many. If a population gets over crowded nature has a way of taking care of it. God bless medicine, to this point or the human race would have been thinned out.
