Do all americans leave your front doors open like in the movies?

Answer #1

I sure as hell dont. People cant be trusted :)

Answer #2

I was curious about that as well. What about your cars? Do you lock them?

Answer #3

Yes i do lock my car, i press the lock key about 20 times just to make sure its locked, and ill even pull the handle for extra reassurance.

Answer #4

sadly I do, out of laziness though.

Answer #5

It depends on where you from. We have lived in a town so small that locking your doors and car doors wasnt neccasary, there was never any reason too. Anyone who lives in a city though i can promise you locks their homes and cars and keeps the doors shut.

Answer #6

nope, Unless I am at a store, but I dont lock it in my driveway. I am in a small town as well. Though that doesnt always mean there are no crimes. I lock my doors when I am in the car….lol and when I am home alone.

Answer #7

sometimes. my ‘rents always lock up, esp my dad, but im more laid back, trusting my neighbors. i live in a pretty nice town, nothing really bad has ever happened. when i go somewhere, tho, i will always lock up b4 i leave, and lock my car and everything wherever i go. in town, tho, i dont.

Answer #8

Umm hell no I don’t want ppl bustin up in my house.

Answer #9

It really depends on both the family and the neighborhood. For example, when we first immigrated, we lived in a neighborhood where we didn’t really know anyone, but it didn’t matter because we didn’t speak English anyway. But during the summer, we still kept our doors, not only unlocked, but wide open. The worst to ever happen was that a little neighbor girl snuck in and saw my brother in his boxers. Thankfully, the experience got him to stop walking around half naked.

Answer #10

Really depends on where you live. My friend lives way outa town, with the closes neighbor like 1/2 mile away. So yah in the summer there house is always wide open. But I live in town, and always lock my doors. I will open the back sliding door when I’m awake and home to cool the house off, but once I go to bed or have to leave it gets shut and locked.

For cars I usually lock mine, but my roommate leaves her’s unlocked all the time and nothing has every happen to it :P. (also a POS so idk)

Answer #11

No…that is a stereotype. Not all Americans do anything the same…we are individual people. Maybe some Americans leave their door open, but that doesn’t mean we all do.

Answer #12

I’m in New Zealand, and where I live, we all leave our front doors open. Over here we are pretty casual about everything. We leave our house unlocked when we go shopping/to a friend’s house etc. We don’t lock our cars, but we don’t leave the keys in the ignition like some people say NZers do lol.

Answer #13

I don’t dare keep the car open while in my driveway. We also lock up all our doors and windows and nights, with chains. I think it will be quite cool to live in a country with less crime.

Answer #14

No. rephrase your question. Not every single american leaves their door open

Answer #15

My mother lives in a small town, her door is never locked, but I live in a city, my shades are always down, windows, shut, and doors locked when I leave the house or go to bed. Car doors and windows too.

Answer #16

not where i live!u leave something unlocked for 1 sec and it gets robbed hahahaha :P

Answer #17

facepalm

Answer #18

I used to live in a small town with a population of like 100 and some odd… I would barely ever lock the door but when i moved to this city with like 66 thousand people i lock my doors and close my shades every night
