There are all kinds of studies about the impacts of illegal immigration in the US, it’s a heavily researched topic. The Congressional Budget Office, for example, did a study which weighed the tax revenue illegal immigrants generate for state and local governments against what they use in social services. Both amounts are negligible in the grand scheme.

For being such a hot issue, the reality is that illegal immigration doesn’t have that big an impact on the United States overall. It doesn’t have a big impact on jobs and unemployment…increased use of automated production is actually taking more jobs from Americans than illegal immigration. It doesn’t have a big impact on health care, studies have shown illegal immigrants don’t use health services as much as native born Americans. The impact on crime is very hard to measure because illegals rarely go through the same legal process of arrest and trial, often times because they’re simply deported. However, there is definitely a violent crime impact in some border states related to narcotics smuggling.

I really don’t think the US has an immigration “problem”. Immigration is one of the things that is actually helping US demographics. In almost every other developed nation, the demographics situation looks very bad.

I cant see how it would be better to be an illegal immigrant. So you may not pay tax but from what I know about illegal immigrants in my country, you get paid next to nothing, your employer can treat you like crap and you constantly have the possibility of deportation hanging over your head.

So not only does that mean that the rest of the world has some how been depopulated, it also means that the people who are legal immigrants in the U.S. dont exist. Was the question thought out in any way? Uhm free health care doesnt exactly exist. Universal health care was never passed. As for free rent. I’d love to know who gets that.

The use of illegal immigration to man jobs is the inverse of outsourcing jobs for those static industries that can’t simply pack up and ship overseas… eg: Agriculture… Construction… and certain service industries. It is an unnatural inflation in the supply of workers… any surplus of supply acts to lower the value of the supply… which necessarily drives down the wages of all workers… this is common sense.

It is more than just a wash of lowered cost vs. lowered wages. Citizens are at the mercy of industry. It is true that citizens don’t want to do these jobs for the offered pay… industry has compensated by assuaging the demand that would have increased the wages. This places the consumer at a disadvantage. Although the cost of the product can be reduced from the savings in labor cost… industry has the upper hand in setting their profit margin. The consumer loses any leverage in the matter as their purchasing power is compromised via the overall lowering of wages.

What type of refugees are these immigrants? Refugees from a lowered standard of living. They want what the average American has… for good reason. But what distinguishes the two standards of living? An American middle class. In Mexico there is a two class system with a huge disparity between the two. A super elite wealthy class who account for less than 1% of the population but account for 95% of the wealth. There is no lack of resources. There is no overpopulation. There is only the disparity and the lowered standard of living. The solution to the poverty in these countries is for the native population to close the gap between the rich and the poor.

Instead the immigrants have become unwitting accomplices to those who have impoverished them. Millionaires like Vincente Fox have convinced them that middle class Americans can and should bare the burden of wealth distribution. For the last century the gap between the rich and poor has widened in America. Western civilization and in particular Anglo-Saxon society has been able to establish a strong middle class who have historically hedged the power of the ruling class. Illegal immigration is meant to bring the middle class down. To raze the the middle class and empower the ruling class. This is why corporatists… the Federal government… both republicans and democrats are in favor of its continuance. It serves to benefit them.

The media has tried to make this an issue of race… or an issue of middle class greed. I find it an incredibly audacious attempt for those who hold all the chips to ask the ones who are already living hand to mouth to dig a little deeper. The well intentioned but naive minority who have bought into the propaganda. The immigrants do deserve our sympathy and our help. This is not the solution to the immigrants problems. The solution involves the dismantling of the plutocratic elites through the shuttering of their central banks… and the repeal of power from central governance… who have become the vehicle for corporate plunder.

To answer your question… Immigrants receive free health care for emergency cases and pay sales taxes. They live a hard life… but we are all in the same boat… one that is sinking and as water seeks its own level… we will all drown together.
