am I over reacting... please help

My boyfriend and I have been friend for 3 years and together for about 5 months and we’re been really great till this last week. We work together so its kept from our co workers. About a week ago we went out with a bunch of other co workers out to a local bar that’s pretty close to your job. We all parked in our lot and walked over. by the time I left there was my boyfriend and one other person. my boyfriend didn’t offer to walk me to my car which was weird from him. When I got home I sent him a text thanking him for walking me to my car. He explained that he was trying to protect our relationship from our co workers and I explained that having your girlfriend walk out of a bar at midnight a few blocks down alone isn’t good a relationship. The issue went on ending with him stating it should be good with both sides apologizing. I didn’t feel like I should however I did say sorry that I didn’t think about his side. I never got my apology. He went away on vacation on Monday. The week before he was leaving he would call me and just check in so we both knew everything was going okay. I barely heard from him the whole week, only by texts. I had car problems , while his great timing, he was texting me while my car was overheating. Later he sends me a text if my car was okay.. after answering him saying how bad it was and the whole situation he just says im going to the pool, wont have the phone on me. ttyl… Other situations as such has happened and im very upset about this. Hes usually never this selfish. Im trying to put myself in his shoes, wanting to have a good time on vacation but damn, if I knew something important happened id pick up the phone to make sure everything was okay. So am I over reacting by being annoyed and upset at him? and how should I handle this? friends say get rid of him however im not ready to throw him to the curb just yet.
