Aliens and religion

I have an interesting question.

Well I am a Christian, but do not believe in heaven, hell or the bible. I do however have one question.

There was this documentary over here on tv the other night about aliens and I would like to know what your views are on aliens and theism. I mean after all if God created the “heavens and earth” doesn’t that mean that if there are any aliens that they are part of this devine plans?

And would this then mean that aliens believe in God?

Answer #1

I think that part of the reason that humans are religious are for some distinct reasons, and whether aliens believe in religion or not would depend on the species, they might have religions similar to christianity but they would not have christianity as one.

I cannot imagine that the aliens you see on tv believe in religion. I mean these guys are capable of intergalactic travle, when I think about religion I think primitive. If they even have religion, I think it might be non-deity based and unlike anything we’ fathom.

If there was a god maybe god intentionally allowed his creation to cause evolution as he planned? Or maybe evolution is a random process of god’s creation that he allowed but didn’t plan?

Well I am a Christian, but do not believe in heaven, hell or the bible

…then… you aren’t Christian… you’re something else… a Deist maybe…

And would this then mean that aliens believe in God?

Any sentient life (self-aware), will likely have religion, or will go through a religious period in their history.

Answer #3

ok. Well to me there is just too much coincidence to the way life operates. How things are put together. I feel that there had to be some form of God or Deity that had a hand in our creation. But as for that I don’t really care what happens if I die. It’ll probably be like going under an operation…you don’t remember anything when you are asleep.

Answer #4

If you don’t believe in heaven, hell, or the bible, in what way are you a christian?

And I think it’s likely that other alien cultures - if they exist - would have their own religions, but no, one of them would not be christianity.

Answer #5

I feel that there had to be some form of God or Deity that had a hand in our creation. But as for that I don’t really care what happens if I die.

…yep… a deist…

Answer #6

I think recently the Catholic church declared that they do not dispute the possibility of other life forms in the universe, since the idea is compatible with the all-powerful nature of God.

Answer #7

If you believe in Christianity but do not believe in heaven hell or the bible then how is it Christianity? You think that in religion G-d is prone to error?

Answer #8

Most people buy the god nonsense because they wish there is an afterlife and a god is part of that package deal.

But you already recognize that death = death. Why then do you think there is any credibility to the ridiculous idea of a god?

However, if there is a universal god of somekind, then it follows that god would be the god of aliens as well, just like it folows that if leprechauns are universal beings, then they exist on other planets too.

Answer #9

mmm. lets see.maybe I voiced it wrong. I don’t see the bible as being 100% truthful in all aspects. It more of a book that in some places have good lessons about life in it to me. But I do believe their is some being out there that had a hand in our creation..I used to be Christian so that is where I get the influence from…ie beligve in higher power.

As for the heaven and hell. I do believe if you’re dead, you’re dead

Answer #10

I think most religions would take an agnostic view on alien life if pressed for an answer. it makes sense that if God created the universe, he would create more than just one world. chances are the “aliens” on other planets would look like us though, as God created us in the image of himself. why would he make us like Him, and other intelligent beings all weird and funny looking? I believe aliens exist, I guess. again, it makes sense, though I think 99% of alien sightings are fake.

Answer #11

Uhhh… that doesn’t really make any sense…

When you claim you don’t believe the Bible, but believe in God; that gives the impression that you might be a Deist. But to say you believe in the ‘Christian’ God, means that you would HAVE to believe the Bible, since that’s where Christianity (and its explanation of God) comes from.

So, what aspect of the ‘Christian’ God do you believe in?

Answer #12

A Christian is one who has accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior - has had their name recorded in the book of Life and strives to please Him daily in all that they say and do - it would be more accurate to say you are of the Christian religion, which doesn’t make Heaven your home (this tells you what is required: John 3 : 16) - I don’t believe aliens exist but if they do, they would be made by the Creator of all things…Take care !!

Answer #13

if you do not believe in heaven, hell or the Bible you are not a christian repent and believe!!!

Answer #14

Sorry I forgot to add,, that is provided aliens exist :-) oh and this is in the wrong category again.

Answer #15

ok, fine I do not classify as Christian then. I shouldn’t hve put that part in my question.

Answer #16

Well I believe in the Christian God…so it probably makes me a Deist then.
