Would you advocate a law allowing assisted suicide?
It is for my Law class. Would you have restrictions if you did?
No, I absolutely would not. To me, it is sick and wrong to euthanize a person like a dog at an overcrowded kennel, even if that’s what they want. We can’t play God. Only He decides when a persons time to die is.
No. If your want to commit suicide then please do not involve others. After you are gone someone will have to live with that on their minds for the rest of their life.
Personally, I think it’s inhumane to allow a person to suffer when they are terminal. We will put a dog to sleep to end it’s suffering, but force people to live through it until they finally pass away …it’s just wrong. It should be a person’s right to decide that they no longer want to live with the suffering, however, I only believe of this in cases where a patient has a terminal illness - depression doesn’t count.
I agree with that. The only reason that people do not do it is because of the slight chance that they might bounce back. A doctor should be the one doing this though and it should be a matter of the doctor making the decision and for the family to object instead of the other way around. It really is alot to live with if after making the decision someone tells you that some other hospital of doctor could have saved them.
Even if aa adult person is 45lbs, in diapers, on oxygen, drips. If you really want to back up what your saying about only God can decide then we should not even bother with all of the above accessories. Because what we do is actually keep them alive to suffer a longer and more lingering death.
Yes I completely agree with you. In our Practical Law book, there was a situation where an old man had been suffering from cancer that can be treated and the pain could not be relieved, so he asked his wife to help him die by supporting him with pills. There were questions like “Would you convict her if you were part of the jury?” I said no, because she was actually help him end his suffering, since the man had that cancer for 10 years and it was getting worse.
What about if the individual wants to end his suffering? Paint related, not emotionally related. I would allow it, but with restrictions, like terminate cancer that inflicts great amount of pain over the years.
It was a question that asked for my opinion, and I answered it. Yes, I still think it’s wrong. A doctor’s job is to help keep people alive, not to help finish them off.
Yes. And anyone with a religious answer needs to keep their religion out of the law. I’m answering from a U.S. perspective (since your question originates from there). It’s called separation of church and state. Also I find it ridiculous that any compassionate God would promote suffering. Perhaps euthanasia is God’s intervention. And why is a doctor keeping a person alive through medication God’s intervention, but ending suffering through medication not God’s intervention? What the hell makes you qualified to know what God is thinking?
I kinda would if the pearson was in so much pain and and if it was that pearsons choice, I don’t see why someone has to suffer just because somebody else is making them live till the end. I don’t think it’s ok to give up on something, but I also think that if the pearson just can’t take it anymore and wants to put an end to it, then it’s fine. It’s their life, not anybody elses.
It’s degrading, immoral, and selfish to deny an end with at least a shread of dignity to a person when the end is inevitable. Not only do we deny this, we strap every machine and pump every drug known to man into these people in a useless attempt to keep them alive and suffering. Too many people have difficulty dealing with death. We all have an end. When yours comes, if you are unfortunate enough to be suffering from a terminal illness, do you want your final days, weeks or even months to be spent in pain and agony all the while knowing that this is all there is until the machines and medicine just can’t force your body to function anymore? Why do we do things to human beings that would be considered cruel and unusual if done to any other living creature?
