What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a revolutionary army in the nation-state?

Answer #1

Odd question. When I visited Nepal, they were in the middle of a civil war…which was of course terrible and the downside is fast foward to “now” and they are without a central government of any kind. Did the rebels do that? Did it happen b/c the royal family was taken out in a massacre?

Tough to say.

Then consider the Tamil Tiger issue in Sri Lanka….during their revolution, of course, things were bad. Now the dictator who’s being propped up by the USA to a certain degree…is getting sanctioned by the United Nations (you need to be a bad government to achieve that kind of notoriety).

So in that sense, the revolutionary forces were good…as now, it’s worse, in many ways.

Does that help at all? More specifics would be better…but, those are the only places in recent history I’ve got any grasp of with regard to armies or armed forces.
