You need to talk to him, there could be a lot of different reasons why he didn’t want to have sex and then masturbate. Talk to him and find out why.
Probably either couldn’t get one up at the time, or he doesn’t have the confidence to do so at the moment. Probably from lack of experience or something. I suggest talking to him about it and trying to get comfortable with each other for your big night later.
