There was a book written by Nathaniel Hawthorne called “The Scarlet Letter.” It’s about a woman who commits adultery, and as such she is forced to wear a large, scarlet “A” on her clothes, so people know what she did. In modern times, a scarlet letter is something that identifies anyone as an outcast, most importantly, an outcast to be shunned.

Answer #5

yeah if you read the book a scarlet letter… the town rejects her because her husband was like not in that country or something while she got pregnant and they made her put a scarlet A for “adultery” so everyone in the town knows…so she is an outcast from society and so is her daughter…read the book it’s very good :] hope this helped you understand lol.
