4-H Rabbit Showing

What are some faults, good points & bad points for Ruby - Red Eyed Netherland Dwarfs. What should their fur be like? (4-H showmanship)

Answer #1

I just showed my Netherland Dwarf and he would have won except for a white spot on his nose that he got from a scar. So if your rabbit is a self-ruby eyed white it shouldn’t have any other colors mixed in with the white and all the hairs should be white from the the tip down, however creamy or yellow tinge is just a fault not a disquilification. All netherland dwarfs should have a round apple shaped head and the ears can’t be over 2 inches. The rabbit should not weigh over 2 1/2 pounds either. The front legs should be short and straight and all the nails should be the same color. The body should be short and compact with a wide chest and shoulders. Ears must be erect. Eyes should be round and bold, make sure the rabbit doesn’t have a marbled eye. The coat should be soft, short, dense, and a rollback. Also make sure the rabbit is of good health before showing because if it’s not healthy it can be a disqualification and it could get the other rabbits sick.
