FunAdvice Trivia: In order, what are the 4 strings of the violin?

A) A,D,E,C B) E,A,D,G C) A,B,C,D D) F,C,G,D

Answer #1

When I think “in order” I think low to high or left to right (from the player) which would be G-D-A-E. Your idea of “in order” is obviously backwards in which case the answer you are fishing for is B) E-A-D-G

Answer #2

I’d also add that while the Violin, Viola, and Cello are traditionally tuned in 5ths Basses are tuned in 4ths to reduce the distance the left hand has to stretch. Basses are traditionally tuned E-A-D-G which is the opposite of violins which are G-D-A-E. The reason for this is because in an octave going up in 5ths produces the same note names as going down in 4ths (though in different octaves since they go in different directions.
