Why is it more socially "acceptable" for women to try "batting for the other team", yet men are not allowed to?

I identify myself as a predominatly straight male, but I’ve tried guys before in an experimental stage. And for some reason, that seems to get me into trouble and get me strange looks when I admit it to anyone.

There seems to be a double-standard that women can try it, and it is considered “hot” and even “normal” to an extent (when viewed in the context of “experimenting”), yet if a guy tries it, it’s suddenly horrible, “gross”, “weird”, and even though I’ve decided I was straight (I’m just not attracted enough to guys to be in a relationship, I like women) and don’t want to pursue men anymore, I’m considered “gay” or “closeted.”

Does it really bother women if their man admits to having experimented with men before? Why the double-standard?

Society has a lot of double-standards for both genders. As you stated, women can try to be “lesbian” or “bisexual” and it’s seen as normal or “hot, yet guys can’t. Likewise, men and women can both apply for the same job, yet the male will more likely to be selected because the notion is that women are “dumber/weaker” than their counterparts.

Our society and human mind regarding gender “equality” or lack thereof is laughable. It’s also a bit ironic that women are “allowed” to experiment with sexuality, yet men cannot because it has always been that women must be modest and very conservative in their actions since it’s a, how people usually put in the old days, a man’s world. But I guess that also makes sense in a way since a man is seen as “better” than females so he should act above them and not do the same things.

It’s really confusing and stupid in my opinion. Society is just stupid in general. It’s like an adventure in an ever changing nightmare where one day something is seen as cool and normal, then the next day it’s the opposite.

I agree with everything Aleks said but I think a predominant the predominant thing is that men find it hot when two girls are together. And men and a lot of females alike do not find it hot when two men are together. Ontop of that because of this, you see female with female a lot more in the media simply because it sells strengthening this double standard and making it seem like it’s more normal for girls.

But is it really such a turn-off for women to find out a guy has tried it before? It just doesn’t seem right. It goes against the whole “equality” thing if men are not allowed to even question their sexuality and try it. Even if, like me, they decide that it’s not for them.

Personally, I believe that women accept homosexuals more then men. Therefore, you have one gender already that believe homosexuality is socially acceptable. Then men often find the mental image of lesbians sexy and therefore offer their acceptance. Whereas, most men do not find the mental image of gays sexy and therefore acceptance is lost. As a result, both genders generally support women homosexuality and only one gender generally supports male homosexuality.
