Is my ear lobe piercing infected? (read more)

I had my ears pierced at Claire’s about 3 weeks ago. Everything was fine until today. My left ear started swelling and is slightly red. It is painless. But, it seems as my ear is eating my earring. But, i already loosened the backing so it can’t be embedding . If this is an infection, what can i do to cure it?

That’s the problem with claire’s, they piercing with blunt force & unsanitary guns rather than hollow piercing needles like a tattoo parlour, which I advise you get them pierced with if you ever decide to get another earring. Signs of infections usually include: redness, swelling, hot to touch, pain, & pus. The best way to help it would be salt water soaks. Pour some sea salt in a shot glass just enough to fill the bottom then mix with warm water & soak your lobe in it. Or you can buy the sea salt spray from places like walmart, I think it’s called H2o.

Also forgot to add, don’t put alcohol, peroxide, or any ointmint/cream on it. & don’t change the jewelry !

Use a quarter of a teaspoon of sea salt mixed in a cup of warm water and soak it once daily.

The EXACT same thing happened to me - I had my ears pierced at Claire’s years ago and the back of my earring nearly went completely into my lobe. All I did, once I got the damn thing out >.<, was to turn the earring all the way round frequently and I’m pretty sure I used the Claire’s antiseptic that I was given.

It should settle down. Mine are fine now =].

I would take the earring out. That happened to me a few years ago and the earring ended up getting stuck in my lobe and I had to put it out, it hurt really bad.

I got my ears pierced their four years ago and my right ear got infectes. It was red and had dry bumps on my ear. Im allergic to fake ear rings and possibly their solution. so you mite be allergic.
