I assume by “pick up” you mean to hook up with someone for casual sex. The first thing is to appear to be a normal nice guy. They need to trust that you are healthy and not a serial killer. The place most men mess up is blathering on about themselves trying to impress their love interest. What women want is someone who listens. Make the conversation mainly about her. After she opens up to you close the deal with a suggestion that she comes to your place to see your etchings or whatever.

it is better if you seem that you are trying to be friendly. too much compliments towards appearance will make it obvious that you just want to tap/bag. it is better to be friends for a little bit to see if you like that persons personality as well, then you can start for something more serious. if you do just want something quick well that is okay because there are ladies too with the same short term goals lol
