Are there hamsters in the wild?

I don’t think so, aren’t hamsters manmade species ?

Answer #1

Yes there are - you can find them in places like Africa and Asia. I don’t think man has successfully been able to “make” any animal as of yet.

Answer #2

I didn’t literally mean make I meant like bred other animals to get that one aha. xD

Answer #3

Hamsters live in burrows that are like underground tunnels. Wild golden hampters are found in Europe and Asia. Syrians are in the middle east. Roborovskis are almost everywhere where there is flat sandy soil. Winter Whites are Siberian. Campbells live in the desert.. They are wild. We capture them and breed them. they live longer in captivity

Answer #4

Actually due to DNA sequencing and things in the genetic field scientists can build bacteria and viruses soon they’ll probably be able to creat whole animals that are brand new

Answer #5

I think you’re giving far too much credit here … “soon”? Not likely.

Answer #6

Colleen you never know I think its more of an issue of getting that test approve vs scientists actually knowing how

Answer #7

I think your knowledge on what science has accomplished so far is greatly misconstrued.

Answer #8

I think if that ever did happen it would turn out horrible. we are not supposed to create things… lol… would end up being like the movie Splice. Things would go horribly wrong.

Answer #9

Domesticated animals can differ greatly from its wild ancestor. Dogs come from Wolves and are so genetically similar they do not even qualify as a different species from a biological point of view but note at how different dogs look and behave from wolves. Through thousands of years of selective breeding humans have split the species into hundreds of distinct breeds each with qualities useful to humans. The wild ancestor to cattle, aurochs has been extinct for hundreds of years. All domestic golden hamsters are descended from a single female hamster captured in 1930. Similar hamsters have been found in Northern Syria and Southern Turkey and a few were captured in the 1990’s and are being used as new breeding stock.
