Will a new child-princess Disney character teach young girls unrealistic views?

Disney has a new character coming out on the Disney channel - a child princess named “Sofia”. Will this lead to young girls thinking that they need to have lots of pretty clothes and things, or should people just leave it be and let kids be kids?

Answer #1

Let the kids be kids. There is nothing wrong with wanting pretty things as long as you realize its whats inside that matters. Let them be in fantasy land while they can. They will have to come to the real world some day. Until them let them have fun

Answer #2

I just hate Disney in general. There should be a fat princess, a lesbian princess and a trans* princess. Then I’ll be happy.

Answer #3

While there has been a trend of Disney princesses becoming more diverse your suggestions are still a little too edgy for Disney. Were it not for Jasmine being added before 9/11 I doubt Disney would have a middle Eastern princess. Kinda glad my daughter’s a tomboy. She is into Lilo, Buzz, Lightening and Wall-E rather than the princesses.

Answer #4

Jasmine is a herb dude, ….. so Disney has the Little Princess doin the ‘erb now eh? Far out man.

Answer #5

I don’t see anything wrong with this one. I mean, lots of other shows are unrealistic, so what? I say let kids be kids (:
