FunAdvice Trivia: Who is known as the "Godfather of Grunge"?

on the face of it, it’s easy to choose Cobain, Nirvana are perhaps the most commonly associated band with ‘grunge’ music, however, I’ve often heard Neil Young, not cobain referred to as the ‘Godfather of Grunge’

So, my answer: Neil Young.

emma is probably right, especially since i consider nirvana the 2nd gen Pixies. B though.

The way I understand “godfather,” it means the precursor, not the founder. Hence, not Kurt Cobain, but D) Neil Young.

I’m goin with Neil Young, he was way ahead of his time and obviously influenced Mr. Cobain. I’ve heard Kurt Cobain referenced as the “father of Grunge” so the grandfather must be Neil Young.

The answer is D) Neil Young :)

I get how Neil Young influenced Cobain and grunge, but really, if I’d thought about it, I’d have nominated a different band, from the same era as Young, as the godfather of grunge: E) Vanilla Fudge.
