What if a mother lived off of her son's child support money?

I know someone who lived off of her son’s child support money for years and he wasn’t even living with her. She was in one rehab center to another and at times living with room mates. The people her son lived with did not see a penny from her those years they took care of him. The reason they haven’t done anything is a mystery to me as well as to many people who know the situation but now her son has been living with her for the past few months. Is there anything that can be done for those years she used his money? Meaning, can those people take her to court demanding she pay them the money she should’ve paid in the first place for taking care of her son?

well I know its wrong to do that…

I think you can take them to court

at lease phone a brief that specializes in that type of thing…

or the social services would prob be better to contact ;)

It is up to either the payer of the support or the people the son lived with to file a charge. You do not know the situation. I paid child support to my Ex for many years even though both our children lived with me. I chose to do it for two reasons. It helped maintain her living place for when our kids visited her, and it was a small price to pay to prevent chaos, with our kids resenting a perceived vengefulness on my part. Taking the high road helped prevent acrimony, minimized the trauma on my kids, and let me feel good about myself. So, yes they could probably sue, but they haven’t. Maybe they also felt that the Mother’s recovery was more important to the situation than a few extra dollars.
