Is it better to run on a full (well not 'full', just like, have eaten during the day) stomach or empty?

Answer #1

It’s better to eat then to not eat at all.

Answer #2

No, I don’t mean that. I’m just asking if it’s better to run before I have eaten in the day, than to run with food in my tummy.

Answer #3

I’ve heard its better to do before but then again wouldn’t you want to burn off what you just ate.

Answer #4

That’s what I was wondering too. But I think food takes a while to do it’s thing before you can burn it off… :|

Answer #5

Either way your burning calories so whats it matter?

Answer #6

before run eating something will make you fresh.but not with full stomach.you must have energy before you run at morning so drinking glass of milk and eating sandwitch or toast will be better for you.hope i helped :)

Answer #7

i say it’s better to run when you have a little something in your stomache. that way when you are out running you won’t have to worry about feeling light headed. when i was in track we would have to run all the time and my first couple years i would just go and run, and not take a water or a snack and usually i felt light headed because i didn’t have anything to eat. so later on before track practice i would either go get a subway sandwich or a gatorade and some corn nuts because at least this way i wouldn’t get light headed and feel sick later

Actually, the best way to burn fat is to exercise before your first meal of the day. If you tend to do a long run, your best bet would be to bring along some kind of protein & carb drink that you can drink mid-way through your run if you get weak or at least have with you so you can stock up on those nutrients as soon as you are done.

If your bloodstream is full of carbs and sugars, you will be burning those when you run and you won’t have to convert any fat to feed your muscles. If you are maintaining your weight AND body structure, this is probably fine, but if you are trying to burn fat and build muscle, you want to work on the most effective workout possible.

All in all, running isn’t the most effective workout. I really recommend Grok’s Workout over at Mark’s Daily Apple, a primal living website - some AMAZING tips on eating and exercising the way the body is designed to work.
