Is it possible to make a regular car into a convertible?

How much would it cost? I have a mitsubish eclipse 1995 around how much would it cost?

Answer #1

well it is possibke, ud need someone like pimp my ride, i dont think this service is availible at any random mechanic and i belive it would be rather expensive but no more then 5,000

Answer #2

no its not…

you see a convertible has a stronger chassis to compensate for teh lack of roof so you would need a new chassis which is pretty much most of teh car.

if you did do something like this you would be driving a ticking bomb and it would be just a matter of time before you killed yourself or someone else.

i can pick up a rover 214 convertible over here for £350 so teh safer and cheaper option is to buy a car that was built in the factory as a convertible.

That particular model you could not make into a convertable, as it has what is called a unibody design, which means the roof is part of the structure of the car. If you had something like an 80’s two-door say Ford Crown Victoria (just for the sake of an example here) You could cut the roof off and make it a convertable, as that has a full frame underneath it. You have to have a car with a frame underneath it in order to make it into a convertable or even a pick-up truck, and an eclipse isn’t one of those cars. The cost of doing such a thing depends on how much welding skill you have.
