How should I prepare myself physically for the military?

So I really want to join the military after high school. But I don’t want to go into boot camp totally out of shape. Do you know a exercising schedule with the food to eat, exercising, and just anything that will help me out? If so.. can you help me out please? I would really appreciate it (: thank you

Get a 40 lb. Pole and run a mile with it every day as if it were a flag. Dis that at boot camp. That’ll get ya in shape real fast because it works mind arms legs forarms, grip and you have to control your breathing. A chick who did it by me stopped a 5th of the way around the barracks

this is what I’ve been told on this subject, when I’ve asked people. – try and do at least 30 mins of cardio a day (exersize that gets your heart going) – drink at least 8 cups of water – DEFINITLY eat LOTS of fruit and veg. every day. – do about maybe 100 situps a day, and when you feel there not doing as much at the start then boost it up to maybe 150. maybe even start with thatm you need to LITERALLY feel the burn – do like 5 sets of 10 pushups? and maybe every month add 1 push up to each set and add another set. and yeah, I agree that you should maybe take up a martial art (like kickboxing, boxing, muay thai etc) to strengthen your mind and body. hope I helped Lea. I know how important this is to u. and if you need any more help, then just give me a funmail =]

The other posters gave good advice. I would just add that if you’re not in shape for running or cardio now, then just start out by walking a lot. A lot of people start running before they’re ready and they get knee and other joint pains. When you can walk a couple of miles without getting tired you could start jogging short distances, then walk some more. After awhile you can start doing longer runs.

I was running by a school awhile ago and they had a bunch of National Guard soldiers there taking a test. You wouldn’t believe how many of them were in lousy shape and were struggling just to run around a 1/4 mile track. So, you don’t have to be awesome physically to get into the military. If you’re in decent shape and can run a few miles and are otherwise fit and toned you will be fine.

I would recommend doing push ups, stomach cruches and going for a run 3 times a week. Depending on when you plan to join you might want to consider taking martial arts classes to help condition yourself both mentally and physically
