Fasting 2 days a week for weight loss?

I would like to lose some weight. I’m about 144-147 right now, I would like to be 130 or better yet 120 I’m 18 and 5foot 7 inches. I ‘m trying to eat well my daily caloric intake is around 1000, but normally I shoot for around 800. I was considering a weekly fast, like, saturday and sunday. I was wondering if fasting is bad, because I hear it can actually be very beneficial to health as well as weight loss. So what do you think? Would fasting 2 days out of the week be okay, would it help me lose weight? Any negatives?

I am not an expert, but everything I have been told and that I have read says that fasting is horrible for your system. It messes with your metabalism and screws your body up by saving things cause it goes into “starvation mode” so you can end up gaining weight. You are also eating far less then the recomended intake. You should be between 1500 and 2000 calories a day. Eating the recomended calories lets your body save everything it needs and get rid of what it doesnt want instead of it trying to save everything or not able to save anything. The easiest and safest way to lose weight is to eat healthier and exercise more!

Depends on what you mean by fasting, if you equate it with starving yourself, don’t even bother, it’ll just slow down your metabolism.

In any case…

I don’t like the idea of fasting at all, especially not 2 days out of the week. That in my opinion is too much. If you really feel that you want to fast do it one day out of the week, but make it a day where you do not do a lot of exercise and make sure that you take in a lot of fluids. Fasting does not mean starving yourself.
