dog periods

do dogs have periods??

Answer #1

Hi…female pups/dogs go into their 1st heat when they are approx. 6 mons. of age…I wouldn’t call it a period…period usually deals with people…going into heat or are already in heat…r the terms I have used & heard other breeder’s use…

                                                                                      dichihuahua

yes. female dogs to get their periods… well it’s not exactly a period. apparently it’s called “going into heat” this is dangerous because if you leave your dog unsupervised and she finds another dog. guess who’s gonna end up pregnant and having babies. anyways that’s pretty much why they get fixed. that plus the chances of the dog getting cancer after delivering. but I think I cried when my dog got fixed. the fact that she would never have kids was just so sad to me. reproduction is completely normal for every species and dogs should have a chance at that too.
