What's the difference??
hmm, well technically a psychologist can be called a counselor... so unless you find out what degree they have, (a psychology or a counseling degree), it's a little hard to tell the difference. A person with a phd in couseling can also be called a psychologist (yes it can get a little confusing). Personally, from what I've seen, the difference between psychology and counseling is that psychology tends to be more focused on the science and the rules and the right way of doing things. Counseling is a lot more touchy feely. It's more grey, it's a lot more relaxed, and ofcourse it's a lot more about the actual therapy process than psychology which is also interested in the way the brain works, the actual "psychology" behind things...
lol, uhm I'm sorry? I dont know how to explain it any better... maybe if I knew exactly why you were asking... from an outsider perspective (if you are going into therapy) there isnt much of a difference and really the words are used interchangeably. If you want to actually get a degree and practice therapy, then there is a difference in what you would be studying, but really the words are also used interchangeably (up to a certain point, a person with a masters in counseling is a counselor not a psychologist, a psychologist is someone who has a phd). Did I just confuse you even more?
well I have been seeing someone, I saw her 6 times, but am now switching to a different person who has a different way of doing things. the last lady was just ment to do excerises with me to get me through depression, but the new one is mainly someone to talk to... I"m just confused as to all the different names. psychologist, psychiatrist, maybe counsellor isn't in the picture. dunno thanx though
yes very very confusing
